Correspondence from Carnegie to John D. Champlin, writer and editor at Charles Scribner's Sons. Letters mostly concern Carnegie's book, Triumphant democracy, first published by Scribner's in 1886 and reissued in 1893. Carnegie discusses reviews of the book and the advertising for it. Other letters mention Carnegie's activities in Scotland. There is also a reference to developments in the Homestead Steel Strike of 1892. The collection also includes four photographs of Carnegie and his friends during outings in Scotland and two letters to Champlin written by others.
